In the city of Yokohama, and close to the city, there are many fascinating sightseeing attractions. Yokohama is only a very short trip to Tokyo, Kamukura, Hakone and Mount Fuji, major tourist destinations in Japan.

Attractions in the City of Yokohama
Yokohama Bay Area
Yokohama is a port city and at the wharf of Yokohama Bay you can find many attractions. From the Yamashita Koen Garden in front of the Hotel New Grand, to Akarenga Souko, a historical warehouse renovated into a complex containing many stores, cafes and galleries. If you want to enjoy a great view of Yokohama bay and the wharf, you can take a boat cruise from Yamashita Koen Garden to Pukari Sanbashi in the Minato Mirai 21 area.

Yokohama China Town (Chukagai)
The largest Chinatown in Japan. You can enjoy authentic Chinese food from hundreds of selective restaurants in area. It is quite enjoyable to walk around and observe how Chinese culture is blended into Japanese culture. Official website (sorry, in Japanese only)

Minato Mirai 21
At Minato Mirai 21 (MM21), a new urban development to reclaim the seaside and harbour from industry, you will find Japan's tallest building, the Yokohama Landmark Tower and a very large Ferris wheel called Cosmo Clock 21, the city's new landmarks. This area has become popular among couples since the place will give you a sense of a seaside resort, right inside the city. There are many shopping malls and art museums for your enjoyment. How to Get to Kamakura and Hakone from Yokohama
Kamakura
Kamakura is a smaller version of the historic city of Kyoto. It is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Japan, along with Mount Fuji and the Hakone area. There are many temples and shrines in Kamakura surrounded with the natural beauty and sensitivity of traditional Japanese culture. You can also enjoy many seasonal flowers and views of Yuigahama bay. Daibutsu, or the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the most popular attraction at Kamakura is located at the Kotokuin Temple. This statue is 12.38 m high and was built in 1252.

How to get to Kamakura from Yokohama
Yokohama Station (JR Yokosuka Line going to Kurihama. 24 min. 300 Yen) to Kamakura Station.


Hakone and Mount Fuji
Considered one of the most famous Onsen (Hot Springs) resort areas in Japan. Hakone, with relaxing Onsen and beautiful views of Mount Fuji, the perfect place to enjoy the best of tradtional Japanese culture within a short train trip from Yokohama.

How to get Hakone from Yokohama
(JR Tokaido Line. Futsu or regular train. Aprox. 55min. 950 Yen.) to Odawara Stn. (Hakone Tozan Railway) to Hakone Area.

By Shinkansen (Bullet Train)
Yokohama Stn. (JR Yokohama Line 16 min. 160 Yen) to Shin-Yokohama Stn. (Shinkansen 32 min. Regular Ticket 950 Yen + Special Fare for Shinkansen 2190 Yen) to Odawara Stn. (Hakone Tozan Railway) to the Hakone Area.

How to get to Tokyo from Yokohama City

To Shibuya Station
Motomachi Chukagai Stn. [ Minato Mirai Line. By Tokkyu Express train. 7 min. + Tokyu Toyoko Line (Tokkyu Express) 27 min. 460 Yen ] to Shibuya Station.
*There is Tokkyu or Express train of Minato Mirai Line that is connected to the Toyoko Line. If you take the Express train, you don't have to change trains to reach Shibuya station.

To Ebisu, Hiroo, Roppongi, Ginza, Tsukiji, Akihabara, Ueno Stations
Motomachi Chukagai Stn. [Minato Mirai Line. by Tokkyu Express train. 7 min. + Tokyu Toyoko Line. (Tokkyu Express) 24 min. 460 Yen] to Nakameguro (Hibiya Subway Line) and then to each station.

*There is the Tokkyu or Express train of the Minato Mirai Line connected to the Toyoko and Hibiya Line. If you take this express train, you can reach each station without changing trains.
